Resonator simulater

Post by Tommy Auldridge »

Waylon's steel player used one on a youtube video on a song "See me shine". Whatever he was using, that"s what I would like to know. The brand in particular. Thanks, Tommy.....

It could be a Goodrich Match Bro-that's what it sounds like to me. The Match Bro is a device that connects to a pedal steel to produce a dobro sound, and there's some kind of bar players use with it, unless they use a steel bar. Buddy Emmons worked with Goodrich on the Match Bro. Robby Turner is the steel player in the video-he played steel with Waylon until Waylon died.

It's probably not the pedal in the Waylon performance, but the Jerry Douglas signature Fishman Aura pedal sounded quite good to my ears when I heard Jerry and his band last year!

Caveat: that would've likely been a piezo pickup signal, but you can play mag pickups through the pedals as well and blend the simulated instrument to taste.
