I’m in Cleveland and went to R&R HOF. Saw Sneaky Pete’s steel!

Played some gigs with that one!
Sneaky Pete was his own man both licks and tonewise. To me his Fender had a more of an electric guitar tone, not as much sustain perhaps but a wonderful attack and overtones. Listen to "Do Right" I think on the GP album. I put it up there with all the other iconic steel guitar accompaniment.
